A medium/heavy duty truck dealership based in Birmingham, Alabama area is seeking an experienced Body Shop Manager to join our team. Full job description – Experience Required.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the production, procurement, and planning of daily operations
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient processes.
  • Oversee a team of technicians and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Coordinate and prioritize work orders to meet customer deadlines.
  • Negotiate and develop relationships with insurance companies.
  • Ensures timely, compliant and accurate management of work order processes, business information, and licensing management ensuring the company’s processes remain legally compliant
  • Participates with Senior Management in development of operational and business strategies, supporting the Senior Management or Owner’s vision and process ideals
  • Conducts onsite field evaluations for compliance for licensing, vehicle, regulatory, EHS, Safety, DOT, quality and company policies. Escalates opportunities for improvements/corrections directly to ownership.
  • Coordinates with sales management team to deliver on commitments to customers. May be involved in the sales process on selected accounts
  • Provides direct support to office personnel, technicians, and sales associates regarding customer escalations, technical questions and support, and standard operating procedures.
  • Oversees and reviews daily operational and compliance metrics, as well as the escalation, tracking, and resolution of issues
  • Supervises production staff members, estimators and claims coordinators
  • Influences selection of vendors and manages ongoing vendor relationships
  • Approves expenses and purchases of direct reports
  • Communicates with all relevant employees to ensure delivery times are met
  • Communicating process changes to relevant parties to ensure a successful business
  • Coordinates activities that affect operational decisions and business requirements
  • Ensuring that health and safety regulations are followed
  • Examine financial data and use them to improve profitability, managing budgets, budgetary changes and forecasts
  • Improve operational management systems and processes and provides training for new initiatives and technology launches
  • Manages the growth and success of the team, providing guidance to employees
  • Managing internal assets of the company such as equipment, materials and supplies
  • Plans, schedules, and reviews workload and manpower to make sure targets are being met on a cost-effective basis
  • Reviewing workloads and manpower to ensure targets are met. May recruit, train and supervise staff
  • Forecast goals and objectives for the Center and strive to meet them
  • Recruit, recognize and retain talented teammates. Monitor the performance of all Center staff and provide leadership and coaching as well as ensure that all employees have the required training for their position
  • Demonstrate a great ability to lead, develop, and inspire others to achieve success
  • Supervise the sales, overall production and administration of the center
  • Ensure that every associate follows all standards, policies and procedures
  • Responsible for overall team engagement, including effectively leading team engagement meetings and communicating center scoreboard
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Company’s Vision, Mission and Values in all interactions with associates, customers, clients and vendors
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with other departments, insurance adjusters and customers to encourage repeat and referral business
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • You have a HS or GED; Post-secondary education in collision repair preferred
  • You have experience in truck repair industry or managing a team
  • You have a valid Drivers License and are eligible for coverage under insurance policy (Not an excluded driver)
  • You have an advance understanding and knowledge of the repair process/procedures
  • You have strong analytical and coordination capabilities; capable of effectively prioritizing and multi-tasking.
  • You have highly-effective leadership skills including excellent communication skills and the ability to delegate and empower employees.
  • You have a personable, friendly demeanor with a World Class customer service approach to internal and external customers
  • Maintains a well-groomed, professional appearance

 

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

Position is based in a normal shop environment. Occasional physical activity such as reaching below and above shoulder level, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping to inspect repairs, and lifting and carrying objects over 50lbs. Exposure to fumes, chemicals, dust, along with high levels of noise. Subject to weather conditions both inside and outside. Required to wear protective equipment when necessary. Occasional sedentary work. Must have visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned.
